The Division of Nephrology is an accomplished community of academic nephrologists, with 42 full-time members across the University of Toronto at leading hospitals including University Health Network, (Toronto Western Hospital and Toronto General Hospital), Unity Health Toronto (St. Michael's Hospital and St. Joseph's Health Centre) and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Our division consists of many diverse subspecialties including home and hemodialysis, kidney/kidney-pancreas transplantation, glomerular disease, hereditary kidney disease, geriatric and palliative renal medicine, kidney, and onco-nephrology. With this breadth of expertise, we are proud to be able to provide outstanding clinical care, conduct ground breaking research, and offer numerous training opportunities in nephrology.

In the past 27 years under Dr. Joanne Bargman’s leadership, the Division of Nephrology has trained over 400 international trainees from over 40 countries. We have one of the largest nephrology training programs with core nephrology training and diverse fellowships in glomerulonephritis, heritable kidney disease, home dialysis, palliative care, onconephrology and more.
