In memoriam: Professor Jay Keystone

Dear Colleagues,

Professor Jay KeystoneIt is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of our colleague, teacher and friend, Dr. Jay Keystone.
 
As many of you know, Jay was an internationally recognized expert in the fields of Travel and Tropical Medicine and created the Tropical Disease Unit at Toronto General Hospital in 1976.
 
He was a mentor to generations of trainees, and a respected colleague, teacher, and friend to many.

With his brother Dr. Ed Keystone, Jay recently wrote a piece entitled Womb-Mates for the Department of Medicine's newsletter about recognizing the people who had an influence on them and what it means to pay it forward.

His impact on clinical care has been immense.
 
He will be missed.
 
The funeral will be on Wednesday, September 4 at 11 a.m. at the City Shul (The Bloor Street United Church), 300 Bloor Street West at Huron Street. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. For further details, please check the Benjamin's Park Memorial website.
 
Shiva after the interment will be held at 131 Warren Road from Wednesday, September 4 to Friday, September 6. Visiting hours from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday evenings only.
